I pulled up to the bike rack at school a couple of weeks ago and saw a pretty blue vintage Huffy already locked up, with wire basket-style panniers on the back. I wondered whose it was, and I’ve seen it several times since then.

Now I know – I saw one of the classroom assistants next door leaving today in a bright yellow vest and bike helmet. She’s bicycle commuting now, too. “I hate riding in the wind, though” she says.  The wind has been pretty bad lately.  And her bike is just a three-speed cruiser. “I had a ten-speed before, but I never used all of those speeds anyway,” she said. “It gets me where I need to go.”

I’m excited to have another bike commuting co-worker. That’s three of us now. Maybe it’s officially a trend?
