With me, as a diabetic, it is important to get the vaccine. If I get it, I could die from it. Same for regular flu. I’m hoping that they will be available locally the same way the regular flu vaccine is available because I don’t have health insurance or a doctor. Last year I got my flu shot at Safeway so hopefully they will have the one for H1N1.

But you’re right, it is a personal choice.

Good post. I’ve been wondering about this issue myself.

What confuses me is I’ve seen some statistics, which of course I can’t find right now, that regular flu (which is of course a variety of viruses) kills more people annually than the swine flu has. I don’t get the panic.

But… I am pregnant, we have a one year old, and an older child entering the public school system for the first time. Maybe we should do just this one? (As we don’t usually do flu shots either.) I don’t know.

But you’re right.. whatever we do at least we’ll be informed and not panicked!

“But we’ll make an informed decision either way.” That is a wise statement and wise way to live.
Each person can weigh the pros and cons. We can decide if the threat is too great and if our individual bodies can fight off this flu.
