The TV news story I saw (not sure if it was KATU or not) pointed out that for some less experienced bicyclists, being right next to traffic lanes is really intimidating and deters people from bicycling. I could see that. Hopefully it will encourage more people to try cycling, either for their daily commuting or for leisure time rides.
