Bicycle Commuting Mama: Clothing Tragedy!
Posted on November 23rd, 2008 in Cycling
My husband shrank my wool sweater! The one from Goodwill, that was a primary piece of my cycling wardrobe!
All he has to say is “Well, I washed it on cold and laid it out to dry!”
All I can say is that it’s still shrunken.
I really should just get some decent wool or wool/silk underwear. Anyone got a fave that can’t be shrunk?

How much is it shrunk? Like, severely, or just when you put it on, it doesn’t fit anymore? If it’s the second, it might need to be blocked: re-wet it and pin it out on a large piece of cardboard. As an example, I made this hat for Jake recently, and it barely looked big enough for a newborn, but I checked all the measurements and everything was right. After I blocked it, I could see that it should fit a 12-month-old-and-up pretty easily.
Campmor has some good sales on long underwear right now, although most of it still isn’t what I’d call inexpensive. http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Category___33480104__61414

A tragedy indeed. I’m with Wendy. Blocking should help. I get my stuff at Goodwill or Salvation Army so I can’t help on info.

I’m sorry! It happens sometimes.
Still love you.

Hmm, my cycling attire consists of mostly denim and leather, but I do tend to ride the motor instead of the bicycle.
(I heard that impotency myth years ago, and haven’t pedaled since)
