Bicycle Commuting Mama: Bicycle Commuters Included in New Bailout/Rescue Bill

Weird, huh? But according to Bicycle Industry and Retailer News, there’s a provision in the Senate’s version of the bailout/rescue bill to give a $20 per month tax credit to bicycle commuters (who often can’t take advantage of transit benefits offered by employers, but should also be encouraged to commute green-style).
Maybe they’re trying to get Earl Blumenauer’s vote in the House? He was one of the nay-voters last time. I think it’s an excellent idea, even if it doesn’t necessarily belong in this bill.
