Bicycle Commuting Mama: Fatigue
Posted on September 26th, 2008 in Cycling
My body is so tired, I could cry. Actually, I did cry a little. Sleeping through the alarm, cycling on sore, tired legs, PMS…yup, there were a few tears.
What’s going on? Isn’t this cycling thing supposed to start getting easier over time? But both this week and last, by Friday my body has been done. Today, I’m even feeling it in my whole body. My arms actually feel weak, too. Yes, I ate breakfast. Yes, it included vegetables, protein and carbohydrates (OK, it was cold pizza. But it does have all those things in it).
One thing did make me smile, though — the kids who yell “Hi, Mrs. McDade!” as I bike by. That is cool.

I bike to work almost 2,000 miles. Yeah me! but I still find I get fatigued. I think biking makes me more attuned to my body. I’m kindof a old guy (well not that old) and find that weariness comes and goes. Sometimes I think it is a low grade virus that I wouldn’t notice without the bike. I really don’t know. But be encouraged. Sing alot (I know you wrote to “me” earlier, I think SomeONE must like it). Stop at a gas station, pull up to the pumps, and eat some homemade granola & dried apples. Then take off fully charged.

Thank you, tom. That is encouraging. And making me cry again. Emotions to the front, today.

Baby girl, that is not enough protein, for a morning that includes physical activity. You need like 10 grams, at least. 1 protein to two carbs. And bump up your hydration, too. {{{K}}}
