I’ve been anxious recently about getting the kids to daycare without a car.  This is also the first time — ever — that the kids have been in daycare while both of us are working.  That’s a lot of stress!  Today, however, I found out that I could do it.

Yesterday, several things went wrong, and we ended up walking down to the daycare provider’s house (about 1/2 mile), and then I walked back and took a bus to work.

Today, I finally got my youngest into the child seat on the back of my bike, and we successfully rode down to the daycare provider’s house.  Her sisters rode a bike and a scooter.  I rode on to work.

I did have one problem — my seat apparently wasn’t quite tight enough, and it slid down to the lowest position (not until after I had dropped the kids off).  I didn’t have the proper wrench with me to fix it, so this made for a very uncomfortable ride.  I think we need to tighten the bolt with the kid in the seat, so that it can withstand the weight.

Otherwise, I now know that we can do it, although I do anticipate getting very tired at times.
